Arjun Verma began his journey with his father, Roop Verma, and continued his apprenticeship with the legendary Ali Akbar Khan and his son Alam Khan. Arjun's meticulous training led him to a very rich musicality enveloped in a majestic depth and joy typical of North Indian classical music.

Hailed by the New York Times as a “fine sitarist”, Arjun shares the gems of his cultural heritage in an innovative, modern and relevant way, while maintaining a high standard of traditional integrity. UK/Europe tabla player Gurdain Rayatt who regularly performs as an international artist. Gurdain excels both in the traditional classical realm as an apt soloist and sensitive accompanist of instrumental, vocal and classical Hindustani dance performances, as well as a versatile and expressive musician in multicultural, folk and world music projects and groups.

This performance is a journey through the classical music of North India, where the repertoire of traditional melodies is huge. Known as raagas, each of these melodies is made up of many songs and instrumental pieces. This type of music, although firmly rooted in a rich and ancient musical tradition with many elements, there is also a huge space for each performer to improvise and express their own feelings.

Such a performance is authentically unique, spontaneously composed on the spot and never duplicated. Listeners are able to witness and experience the true art of making live music in a highly sophisticated and refreshing way. Improvisation is the nature of North Indian classical music and offers a rich, fresh and lively performance for listeners to experience.
